Developmental readiness is an important aspect of each childs educational experience. At El Montecito we feel strongly that you, as a parent, need a clear understanding of the developmental stages your child will experience. Armed with this knowledge, you can more readily identify your childs needs.
Its important to recognize that children move through identifiable behavior cycles about every six months. They experience alternating periods of disequilibrium and peacefulness. During these periods, children are actively experimenting with their surrounding world. It is reassuring to know that the turbulence of disequilibrium is a natural time of stretching and growth.
More information about the developmental stages of children from ages two to eight can be found on pages 20-21 of the Parent Handbook. Click here for handbook.
